Wrapping Up WordCamp Edmonton 2011

Well, just like that – the inaugural WordCamp Edmonton 2011 has come & gone. November 18 and 19 flew by, with a ton of great presentations, speakers, and connections made.

The event kicked off at 2pm Friday and ended sometime in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Next Act pub. We had 16 presentations over the day-and-a-half; attendees from Edmonton, Calgary, BC and Ontario; and most importantly, a great time.

Thanks to You

Thanks to everyone who came out, either as an attendee, speaker, or volunteer. The vibe for the whole weekend was very positive and people were out to help one another. I know I personally met some people in the Edmonton WordPress community that I had been looking forward to meeting for awhile now.

Thanks to Our Sponsors

All of our sponsors, from gold through bronze, played a huge role in making this event possible. From room donations to food & cupcakes; from print donation to time & effort, every little bit counted and is greatly appreciated.

Sharing Presentations & Slides

We aim to have all the video from the event posted & available to view as soon as possible. Please keep your eyes here, or follow us on Twitter, so you don’t miss it. As well, we encourage our speakers to share their slides and let us know when they’ve done so – two great tools for that are SlideShare and SpeakerDeck. Again, keep your eyes here and we’ll let everyone know where to find the slides from WCYEG.

Feedback

We aim to make WordCamp an annual event, and we aim to make it better every year too. The best way for us to improve the experience for everyone is to garner honest and constructive feedback from our attendees and speakers. With that in mind, we’ll be sending out a survey shortly to those on our mailing list – we’d love it if you could fill it out. If you’re not on the mailing list, you can join here!

Alternatively, feel free to leave some feedback in the comments.

Onwards to Future WordCamps!

Be sure to bookmark our site, follow us on Twitter or join the Facebook page to stay up to speed on the next WordCamp Edmonton. We have plans to hopefully keep everyone involved throughout the year, so don’t miss out! As well, if you want to throw your hat in the speaker ring (or volunteer ring) for next year, be sure to follow us so you don’t miss the initial calls.

Thanks & happy WordPressing!
